It has multiple uses. In addition to being a comfortable rocking chair, the Thera-Glide® provides increased security through its backrest locking system, making the chair stationary during transfers. In addition, it is equipped with anti-tippers as well as long armrests, providing maximum stability when getting in and out of the chair. Its quality high-density foam construction enables the user to sit comfortably for long periods.

Yes, Thera-Glide® is designed with a backrest locking system which stabilizes the chair as soon as the occupant moves their back forward. With advanced armrests and anti-tippers, the chair provides increased stability making transfers safer and reducing the risk of falling.

Yes, all Thera-Glide® models are height-adjustable. The seat-to-floor height can be adjusted from 16" to 19" (41 to 48 cm).

Height-adjustability provides custom configuration for an optimal knee angle when lifting and seating, making transfers easier and safer.

The Thera-Glide® chair was originally designed for geriatric care so that seniors could enjoy the many benefits of rocking in complete safety. However, comfort, design and versatility make it a chair for everyone, and it is used in long-term care facilities, hospitals and maternity care, day-care centers as well as at home in the nursery or living room!

The LPA warranty covers manufacturing defects on the Thera-Glide®’s metal structures for the product’s usable lifetime. The structural wood components are warrantied for 5 years, the locking mechanisms and upholstery for 3 years, and accessories for 1 year. For more information, see the Warranty page.

Yes! The Metal and W Series Wood are available in 3 seat widths: 17" (42 cm), 20" (52 cm) and 24" (60 cm). The Thera-Glide Transitional has a 22" (56 cm) seat width.

These are the following weight capacities:
Thera-Glide® Metal:
- R-505 (17" seat width) and R-605 (20" seat width): 300 lbs. (136 kg)
- R-705 (24" seat width): 450 lbs. (205 kg)
Thera-Glide® Wood and W Series:
- Models with 17" and 20" seat widths: 275 lbs. (125 kg)
- Model with 24" seat width: 450 lbs. (205 kg)
Thera-Glide® Transitional:
- 350 lbs. (159 kg)

The R-C1 option provides seat depth and backrest angle adjustment on the Thera-Glide® Metal and Wood models. The seat depth is adjustable from 15" to 18" (38 to 46 cm) and the backrest angle is adjustable from 95 to 115 degrees. The R-C1 option is standard on 17 "and 24" chairs and optional on the 20" chairs.

The lever activates the backrest locking mechanism even when an occupant is seated in the chair, making the chair stationary at all times. It may be useful when rocking is not recommended for a user or when an activity tray is installed to prevent spills.

Yes, the Thera-Glide® Metal chair is available with the R-C7 option, which replaces the standard wooden armrests with polyurethane armrests.
